Fred Domenick

As a Director for Visit The Woodlands, Fred helps guide the organization to help ensure long-term success.
Fred is also the General Manager for The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center and has been with Marriott International for 35 years. Fred was raised in a family restaurant and tavern business in suburban Philadelphia, before attending Johnson & Wales University where he earned a Bachelor of Science and Associate of Science Degree in Hotel Management.
Fred began his hotel career at Providence Marriott, as Banquet Houseman; moving up through Banquets, then as Assistant Lounge Manager for their Night Club. When Fred graduated from college, he was Beverage Manager. He worked in Somerset, New Jersey and also Galveston, Texas, where he worked at the Marriott Hotel, now known as the Galvez Hotel. He transferred to the St. Louis Pavilion Marriott and took a position of Director of Restaurants, then moved to the St. Louis Airport Marriott as Director of Food and Beverage. In 1996 Fred transferred to the South Bend Marriott Hotel, in Indiana, as a Director of Operations. In 1999 he became Director of Operations at Marriott’s Lincolnshire Resort in Chicago. In 2001 he returned to South Bend Marriott in Indiana, as General Manager.
Fred joined The Woodlands team as General Manager on May 1, 2006. In 2002, Fred received the Marriott International Mustang Leadership Award, and in 2005, received the Central Region General Manager Leadership Excellence Award. In 2008 he received the General Manager of the Year Award from Marriott International. In 2013 Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel received 2013 Hotel of Americas Award.
Fred serves as a Director on the Board of the Hotel & Lodging Association of Greater Houston and the State Texas Hotel & Lodging Association. From 2012 to 2015, Fred was on the Marriott General Manager Advisory Council.
Fred was a part time Fire Fighter and Lieutenant for nine years with fire departments in Indiana and Chicago. Fred is also a Rotarian who enjoys Notre Dame football and all other sports. Fred has been married to his wife Astrid for 30 years and has a son and daughter.
