Transportation Options: Getting To and Around The Woodlands

When planning your next gathering, you can rest assured there are plenty of transportation options in The Woodlands that make it easy for groups to get here and get around.

Flying to The Woodlands

There are two Skytrax rated 4-star airports just south of us, connecting The Woodlands to the world. Nowhere else in the Western Hemisphere will you find two such rated airports this close to one another. To put it simply, flying to The Woodlands is a breeze.

The George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), 30 miles southeast of The Woodlands, is served by 27 passenger airlines with nonstop flights to 5 continents and 185 destinations. Just 50 miles south of The Woodlands, William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) is served by four passenger airlines—Allegiant, American, Delta, and Southwest—with more than 67 nonstop domestic and international destinations. Both airports have received many accolades from Skytrax, ensuring that no matter where you’re coming from, you can get here fast, easy and have a great experience.

Getting Around on the Ground

There are 11 rental car companies at Bush Airport in case you’d like to rent a car for your trip to The Woodlands. We recommend taking the Hardy Toll Road to The Woodlands rather than I-45 for a generally quicker ride.

The Woodlands Waterway Trolley transports visitors for free, seven days a week. You can easily track the Trolley’s route and estimated arrival time through an app, more information can be found at visitthewoodlands.com/trolley.

A Walkable Destination

We know groups appreciate it when a city has a concentration of amenities within its visitors’ district, which is why so many choose to meet in The Woodlands. It’s a very walkable destination! Many popular hotels in The Woodlands are located along The Woodlands Waterway within walking distance of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Market Street, Waterway Square, and Town Green Park.

Stay at the Embassy Suites by Hilton The Woodlands at Hughes Landing and you’re within walking distance from Restaurant Row—home to some of the best restaurants in the city—and Lakes Edge Boat House.
