Become a part of the art lover community on Friday, April 11, as The Woodlands Arts Council (TWAC) celebrates 20 Years of Making Art Matter at the Art Dash Party, presented by The Woodlands Compounding Pharmacy. As a dynamic prelude to The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival (April 11-13), this evening unites artists and art lovers at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center to dash for a cause.

The camera overlooks a ballroom at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. There are a dozen or more round tables with classy decor and catered food. The guests are all adult men and women, each dressed as if for different events (casual to semi-formal). Everyone looks to the stage off-screen to the right, presumably to bid on art pieces for sale. One man on the left raises a blue card in the air to signify his bid.

60-SECOND ART DASH

The party’s guests will experience the adrenaline of the 60-Second Art Dash, where ticket holders quickly claim an original art piece donated by the festival’s VIP fine artists. The event also features gourmet bites, adult beverages, and live music, creating the perfect atmosphere for mingling, power networking, and celebrating the 20th Anniversary of The Woodlands Arts Council.

This year’s Art Dash Party is co-chaired by two passionate advocates: Haley Garcia, TWAC Board Vice President, and Cindy Heiser, TWAC’s Board Director.

“Every year, I eagerly anticipate the Art Dash, my absolute favorite charitable event. It's a vibrant celebration that combines art, fun, and community spirit in a unique way. This year, I'm even more thrilled to co-chair this fantastic event alongside my dear friend Haley Garcia. Together, we're passionate about bringing people together to support a meaningful cause and make a lasting impact on our community,” Cindy shared. “The Art Dash is more than just an event—it's an experience that leaves everyone inspired and connected, all while supporting a wonderful organization that contributes an $8 million impact to our community. I'm honored to be part of this journey and can't wait to witness the magic unfold!"

The camera faces a sculpture by Thomas Wargin. It is an abstract piece featuring a contorted male figure encased in a cube made of thin, black, metal bars. The figure, balanced on a stone pillar with his right fist, clings to a tree limb with his left hand and feet. Other natural elements like leaves and smooth river stones are also incorporated.

A man, 40s-50s, smiles and offers a thumbs up to the camera. He is wearing a light blue shirt, a dark blue lanyard carrying his name tag, and a star-shaped medal on a red, white, and blue-striped lanyard. Blurred in the background is one of the man's sculptures, a figure struggling to carry a rough, concrete pillar on his back.

2025 FEATURED ARTIST

Thomas Wargin, The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival’s 2025 Featured Artist, has donated his evocative piece, “Balancing Boundaries,” to the Live Auction alongside other exciting items. This thought-provoking sculpture explores the tension between freedom and constraint, inviting viewers to reflect and engage. With over 25 years of diverse experience, Wargin has collaborated with Fortune 500 companies and created intimate pieces in a small art studio. His career reflects a profound dedication to producing impactful and visually stunning artworks.

Two women, 30s-40s, smile at the camera. They both have long dirty-blonde hair and are sitting on burned-orange cushioned chairs before a black-and-white abstract art piece. The woman on the left is wearing a long, simple black dress with a tan sweater vest. The woman on the right is wearing a black-and-white striped button-down blouse, navy pants, and a brown pleather jacket.

STUDENT ART SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Funds raised at the Art Dash Party from the live auction and ticket sales will benefit The Woodlands Arts Council’s Student Art Scholarship Program. This year, The Woodlands Arts Council awarded nearly $60,000 in scholarships, including a $20,000 award to one student in commemoration of the 20th anniversary.

As a key figure at The Woodlands Arts Council, Haley Garcia has dedicated her time and efforts to supporting its growth and fulfilling its mission.

“Being an active member of The Woodlands Arts Council is an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the art world. From connecting with talented fine artists to supporting young talents in their journeys, the opportunities are rich. Having an organization in our community that has been Making Art Matter for 20 years truly makes The Woodlands a remarkable place,” she concluded.
