George Mitchell Nature Preserve

Think of The Woodlands as your giant outdoor playground, with more than 220 miles of hike and bike trails and 150 parks throughout The Township. The 1,800-acre George Mitchell Nature Preserve is one of visitors’ favorite places to enjoy outdoor recreation in The Woodlands, and for good reason. Hike two miles, keeping an eye peeled for migrating birds and other wildlife. Ride the three miles of bike trails, breathing in the fresh air as you fly by statuesque trees and lush flora. The George Mitchell Preserve is part of the Montgomery County Spring Creek Greenway that will connect up to 12,000 acres of forest surrounding Spring Creek, north of Houston. The George Mitchell Nature Preserve can be accessed at the Flintridge Drive trailhead, near The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park and the new Texas TreeVentures, an outdoor aerial adventure course.

And, if you’re looking for more hiking in The Woodlands, you’ll enjoy the extended Spring Creek Nature Trail. When you’re in town, don’t miss the opportunities to surround yourself with our forest's breathtaking and rejuvenating beauty.
