We all get plenty of screen time, but from time to time we can run short on sun time. To remedy, we have several options for outdoor recreation that the entire family will enjoy. There are 220 miles of hike and bike trails and 150 parks in The Woodlands for your family to explore. Rent single or tandem kayaks and stand-up paddleboards at Riva Row Boat House or Lakes Edge Boat House. Take a family selfie in the Swan Boats on The Woodlands Waterway.
PLAY AMONG THE TREES
Learn how to trust one another at Texas TreeVentures, one of the newest family-friendly attractions in The Woodlands for ages 6 and older. The outdoor aerial obstacle course provides the best views of our forest—from the top. Texas TreeVentures is right next to the George Mitchell Nature Preserve, so once you’re finished with your friendly competition, head to the preserve for a nature hike or some mountain biking.
COOL OFF IN A POOL OR SPLASHPAD
Pack a picnic to enjoy on the banks of Northshore Park on Lake Woodlands. There are free outdoor Concerts in the Park here on Sundays during the spring and fall. Cool off at the Splashpad at Waterway Square—also a great spot to see several of the stunning public space mosaics and home to the free Waterway Nights live concerts on Saturdays in the spring and summer. Relax with your family at your hotel pool. Several hotels here have fabulous pools and The Woodlands Resort even has a water park and lazy river—extra brownie points with the kiddos!
DISCOVER PUBLIC ART
Wander through the literary labyrinth at Town Green Park before you begin your outdoor tour as a family of the famous Art Benches in The Woodlands. There are 24 and counting spread throughout The Township. Hop on The Woodlands Town Center Trolley for a free ride between the various districts!
EXPLORE A MUSEUM
Next to Teacups and Tadpoles is The Woodlands Children's Museum with a ton of educational hands-on adventures.
