Waterway Square features a water fountain with synchronized choreography to music, along with a variety of outdoor art. The one-acre public plaza is the home of the Waterway Nights concert series as well as a host of restaurants with spacious patios and waterfront views. THE FOUNTAINS AT WATERWAY SQUARE
The Fountains at Waterway Square feature synchronized choreography to music and are currently programmed to perform multiple family-friendly musical selections, which play at random at every 15 minutes seven days a week. The complete show schedule is below.
- Weekdays: Noon to 2:00 p.m. and 6 to 11:00 p.m. every 15 minutes
- Weekends: Noon through to 11 p.m. at the same interval.
The water wall is 120 feet long and waterfalls 24 stone levels down a nearly-vertical 10-foot wall to the lower pond. Water also cascades down seven terraced levels on each end. With 20 speakers in 6 locations and 4,250 watts of power supplied by 5 amplifiers, Waterway Square has surround sound. Another fun fact: from the surrounding buildings and from the air, the water wall and fountain look like an eighth note!
Please note: There is no swimming in The Fountains at Waterway Square.
BEST HAPPY HOUR SPOTS AT WATERWAY SQUARE
Restaurants at Waterway Square in The Woodlands offer spacious patios, great views and a prime location. While there are many places to meet up for Happy Hour, The Waterway area is ideal, especially if you are planning to attend a concert at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion or other popular spots in the Town Center area. The patio and bar area of Churrascos is a great place to meet up with a group. The Goose’s Acre Pub has a double decker patio along The Woodlands Waterway so you can enjoy Happy Hour on a comfortable and relaxing patio with great views. Nearby, visitors can enjoy TRIS Happy Hour which features a unique menu that includes $2 off beer and wine as well as specials on small bites ranging from $7 to $9 each. EXPLORE THE ART AT WATERWAY SQUARE
Waterway Square is home to several pieces of public art including Why Sit When You Can Play, one of 24 art benches found throughout The Woodlands. Kids can also enjoy a treasure hunt at Grandma's Purse, an expansive sculpture made of terrazzo and bronze cast in glass. It features a purse, and objects embedded into the terrazzo - like scissors, sunglasses, crayons, a camera, toy cars - for kids to find. Under the Waterway Avenue bridge between Grandma’s Purse and the Goose’s Acre Pub is a large mosaic installation. The nine-panel display At Water's Edge features colorful nature mosaic collages displayed inside the tunnel.
