The League of American Bicyclists renewed The Woodlands Township’s status as a Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) at the Bronze level on Wednesday, June 10, 2020. This award is the result of The Township’s commitment to bicycling in the community on Township-owned, operated or managed resources. Bicycle Friendly Communities are great places to live, work and visit.

The League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly America program establishes the guidelines for how communities build and track progress toward making bicycling better in their area. More than 850 communities have applied for recognition by the Bicycle Friendly Community program. The Bronze BFC award recognizes The Woodlands Township’s commitment to improving conditions for all people who bike through investments in bike education programs, regular bike events that promote and encouraging people to choose biking, and bike infrastructure.

The Woodlands has more than 220 miles of bike trails for visitors and residents to enjoy. In addition, The Woodlands Township regularly hosts programs to promote bicycling and safety in the community. Bike Month, which is held annually during National Bike Month, features a dedicated month of programming such as Bike To Work Day, Bike The Woodlands Day, Bike to School Day, village rides, bicycle safety and maintenance classes and more.
