Visit The Woodlands received three awards from the Texas Association of Convention and Visitors Bureau (TACVB) Idea Fair at the organization’s annual conference in Denton, Texas this past week.

In the months leading up to the conference, members of TACVB are encouraged to submit campaigns and projects in up to ten categories. The Idea Fair then allows industry peers to vote for their favorite submissions. TACVB’s Idea Fair reassures the awarded convention and visitors bureaus that their marketing efforts are on track with DMO trends.

Idea Fair Awards

  • 1st Place: Local Awareness
  • 2nd Place: Cooperative Marketing
  • 3rd Place: Convention Promotion

“Recognition from industry peers acknowledges that Visit The Woodlands is on-track with tourism promotion and is leading the way with creative marketing ideas,” said Nick Wolda. “This positive feedback from fellow CVBs is an honor to receive.”

Local Awareness: Insider's Guide

In their budget group, Visit The Woodlands received first place in the Local Awareness category for the Insider’s Guide. Shortly after launching this new quarterly publication, Visit The Woodlands repurposed the inaugural issues artwork into a window cling and installed in at Market Street. Each Insider’s Guide issue includes new artwork by a local artist and are repurposed into postcards, which are available at the visitors kiosk at Market Street, hotel properties, select businesses and in group welcome bags.

Cooperative Marketing: Hotel Book Program

Visit The Woodlands also received second place in the Cooperative Marketing category for their Book Checkout Program. In March, Visit The Woodlands donated copies of Goodnight to The Woodlands to a number of Woodlands hotel properties, creating a cooperative book checkout program to promote and focus on The Woodlands being recognized as a destination for family travel.

Convention Promotion: Meeting Planner Guide

Lastly, Visit The Woodlands received a third place award in Convention Promotion for their newly designed Meeting Planner Guide. The guide is a resource for meetings planners, which highlights hotels and unique meeting venues along with events and experiences convention goers can expect in The Woodlands.

Visit The Woodlands was represented at the annual conference by three staff members, Assistant Director, Elizabeth Eddins, Communications Coordinator, Amber George and Tourism Specialist, Laura Haces. Eddins also serves on the TACVB Board of Directors and lead an educational session of the conference. Amber and Laura attended the three-day conference focusing on professional development and earning credits towards their Texas Destination Marketer (TDM) certification.
