Visit The Woodlands joins organizations across the globe to support the annual Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID). Led by the industry advocacy coalition, Meetings Mean Business, and the U.S. Travel Association, GMID showcases the proven value that business meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows, and exhibitions bring to businesses and the economy.

"The last few years have shined a light on the importance of face-to-face meetings and helped to showcase the impact of conferences, meetings, and events in The Woodlands, said Josie Lewis, CMP, Director of Sales for Visit The Woodlands. When it comes to getting business done, there is truly no substitution for a face-to-face interaction."

In 2021, over 1,200 professional meetings and events took place in The Woodlands, Texas, representing over 108,000 hotel rooms being utilized throughout the year. Group and meetings business travel brought in $14.2 million in total room revenue for Woodlands hotels.

Visit The Woodlands is committed to continuing to bring professional meetings and events to The Woodlands and is focused on allowing for the return of all business travel, meetings, and events to reach pre-pandemic numbers and beyond.

“The return of professional meetings and events and business travel in general is essential for an even recovery of the U.S. travel economy,” said Roger Dow, President and CEO of the U.S. Travel  Association. “After two years of pandemic-related uncertainty, many businesses and organizations are returning to professional travel in the coming year, which will bring people together and also help power an economic and jobs recovery at the local level.”

To raise continued awareness and to celebrate GMID, Visit The Woodlands is sponsoring an activation station at the MPI Houston Area Chapters April Luncheon on Thursday, April 7, 2022. For additional information and to register for the event, click here.
