It’s a moment in life one remembers forever. The time when your partner asks the big question, “Will you marry me?”. The Woodlands is home to many beautiful and unique locations that would make the perfect spot to pop the question.

Photographer Elizabeth Alexander (of Eliz Alex Photography) specializes in capturing special moments for people in The Woodlands.

It’s really nice to freeze a moment in time,” explains Elizabeth Alexander. “That is what you are doing. It’s a great way for people to remember special occasions.”

Because Alexander creates the best images for her clients, she’s often working at some of the most beautiful places around The Woodlands. Many of these locations make for great and memorable spots to pop the question.

Beautiful Koi Fish Pond

One hidden gem right off the popular Waterway area is the Koi Garden. The Millennium Mew Park Koi Garden is directly in front of The Waterway Lofts, across The Waterway from The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. The garden area is about 1/2 acre in size and features a 60,000-gallon koi pond. Unique wall designs lead through tropical gardens built on two tear-drop shaped islands. In total, about 30 Koi, considered to be living artwork, live in the area. Insider Tip: Staff members feed the fish each Saturday at 1 p.m.

Kayak or Swan Boat Ride

A proposal on the water would be one to remember! Catch a ride on a kayak or swan boat from Riva Row Boathouse. You can also rent kayaks from Lakes Edge Boat House at Hughes Landing to make your proposal on the backdrop of the picturesque water area. Hughes Landing often has concerts and other events in the outdoor deck area, so you can organize your special day with another event that may be going on. Grab dinner afterwards at nearby Fogo De Chao, Truluck's, California Pizza Kitchen or another dining option on Restaurant Row.

Pink is for Love with Azaleas

The Woodlands is home to one of the most beautiful places for Azaleas to bloom. The vibrant pink flowers would make for the most romantic proposal spot. Rob Fleming Park in Creekside often has rows of beautiful Azaleas blooming during the spring months.

Sunset at Unique Stone Structure

Rob Fleming Park, in Creekside, is also home to a beautiful stone pavilion area. It’s the perfect place to catch a romantic sunset and enjoy the beautiful nature of the area. The nearby fishing docks stretch out over the water, so if you are into fishing you could put the ring on a fishing line and get her to “catch” the surprise!

Nature Walk at W.G. Jones State Forest

The beautiful nature landscape at W.G. Jones State Forest is a favorite for photographers in the area and it would also make for a beautiful and romantic place for a low-key proposal. Take a hike to the lake and walk amongst the beautiful trees just before getting down on one knee. The trails and seating areas are great for walking and setting up for a celebratory picnic.

Romantic Date Night at Market Street

Market Street is a great location to enjoy a bit of shopping and catch a romantic movie at Cinemark Theatre before your surprise proposal! Maybe take your special someone to L’occitane En Provence or LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics and test out special hand lotions, then suggest a new addition for those new, soft hands! Celebrate with a dinner at Jasper’s Gourmet Backyard Cuisine or CRÚ Food and Wine Bar. The Visitor Information Center (located in the North Commons) can help make reservations and offer up other suggestions!

Relaxing on the Lawn at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

The sprawling lawn at The Pavilion is a great place to surprise someone special. From concerts to other special events, there is always something entertaining going on. Feel free to pack a special meal or snacks. Guests are allowed to bring food into events at The Pavilion, so get creative and pack something special for your sweetie to help celebrate the occasion.

Bonus Tips: Of course, any area of The Woodlands Waterway would be the perfect spot for nice dinner and then a surprise proposal. There is a beautiful bridge with tunnels (the Waterway Avenue Bridge) near Churrascos and Sorriso Italian Kitchen. The Woodlands is also home to various art benches around the area. The 20 benches are part of a public art project by The Woodlands Arts Council and would be a great option for a surprise proposal.
