It’s a moment in life one remembers forever. The time when your partner asks the big question, “Will you marry me?” The Woodlands is home to many beautiful and unique locations that would make the perfect spot to pop the question. Photographer Elizabeth Alexander (of Eliz Alex Photography) specializes in capturing special moments for people in The Woodlands.

“It’s really nice to freeze a moment in time,” explained Alexander. “That is what you are doing. It’s a great way for people to remember special occasions.”

KOI GARDEN ON THE WATERWAY

One hidden gem right off The Woodlands Waterway is an area known as the Koi Garden. The Millennium Mew Park Koi Garden is directly in front of The Waterway Lofts and across the channel from The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. The garden area is about half an acre in size and features a 60,000-gallon koi pond. Unique wall designs lead through tropical gardens built on two tear-drop shaped islands. About 30 koi fish, considered to be living artwork, reside here.

Insider Tip: Staff members feed the fish each Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

MARKET STREET

Market Street is a great location to enjoy a bit of shopping and catch a romantic movie before your surprise proposal! Maybe take your special someone to L’occitane En Provence or LUSH Cosmetics to test out special hand lotions, then suggest a new addition to those soft hands! Celebrate your "Yes!" with a dinner at Sixty Vines or The Audrey. If you would like other recommendations or help making a reservation, see the Visitor Information Center in the North Commons!

THE LODGE AT ROB FLEMING PARK

Rob Fleming Park is home to a gorgeous stone pavilion known as The Lodge. It's the perfect place to watch the sunset and enjoy a breath of fresh air. The nearby docks stretch out over the water, so if you and your sweetheart are into fishing, you could put the ring on a fishing line and get her to “catch” the surprise!

KAYAK OR SWAN BOAT RIDE

A proposal on the water would be one to remember! Catch a ride on a kayak or swan boat from Riva Row Boathouse. You can also rent kayaks from Lakes Edge Boat House at Hughes Landing to make your proposal on the backdrop of the picturesque water area. Hughes Landing often has concerts and other events in the outdoor deck area, so you can organize your special day with another event that may be going on. Grab dinner afterwards at nearby Fogo De Chao, Truluck's, or another dining option on Restaurant Row.

THE CYNTHIA WOODS MITCHELL PAVILION

The sprawling lawn at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is a great place to surprise someone special. Between concerts and other special events, there is always something entertaining going on. Guests are allowed to bring food into events at The Pavilion, so get creative and pack a picknick for your sweetie to help celebrate the occasion.

AZAELEAS AT ROB FLEMING PARK

The Woodlands is home to one of the most beautiful places for azaleas to bloom. Rob Fleming Park in Creekside blooms with rows of these vibrant pink flowers during the spring months, making for the most romantic proposal spot.

WATERWAY SQUARE BRIDGE

Anywhere in Waterway Square or along The Woodlands Waterway would be the perfect spot for a nice dinner and surprise proposal, but The Waterway Avenue Bridge near Churrascos and Sorriso Modern Italian Kitchen is a particularly enchanting location.

W.G. JONES STATE FOREST

The beautiful natural landscape at W.G. Jones State Forest is a favorite for photographers in the area and would also make a romantic spot for a low-key proposal. Take a hike to the lake and walk amongst the trees before getting down on one knee. The trails and seating areas are great for walking and setting up for a celebratory picnic.

BONUS OPTION

The Woodlands is also home to a number of art benches, many of which are located along The Waterway. These benches are part of a public art project by The Woodlands Arts Council, and any one of them would offer a beautiful backdrop to your proposal.
