There is just one month to go until the LPGA’s first major of the year, The Chevron Championship, taking place for the first time at brand new venue, The Club at Carlton Woods, The Woodlands, TX, April 20-23, 2023.

This year’s field is already shaping up to be as strong as ever and with only six events on the calendar before the year’s first major, every performance is crucial. The winners of the 2023 LPGA Tour season so far include two-time major champion Brooke Henderson, who went wire-to-wire to claim a four-shot victory in the Tour’s season opener, the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions; Lilia Vu, who emerged victorious at the 2023 Honda LPGA Thailand to claim her maiden LPGA Tour title; Past Champion Jin Young Ko, who became the first player to successfully defend her title at the 2023 HSBC Women’s World Championship; and Celine Boutier, who beat Georgia Hall in a playoff to win her third LPGA title at the 2023 LPGA Drive On Championship.

The Chevron Championship will also be an important week for players aiming for a spot in the Solheim Cup taking place in September at Finca Cortesin in Andalucia, Spain. The U.S. Team captain Stacy Lewis will have an especially important week at this year’s Championship as not only will she be hoping to be in contention in her hometown, but she will also be looking out for promising players to pick for her 2023 Solheim Cup team. Lewis commented on what sort of challenges Carlton Woods will present for those players eager to impress next month:

“I think the course is going to be a great test for the players. There are a ton of run offs where you can get short sighted and have some tough up and downs. They have also set it up fairly long, so I do see that being a big part of the test.” she said. “I’m really interested to see how players play 18., It’s a reachable par 5 if you can get it in the fairway, but then there’s water left too, so I think there’s going to be drama and I’m interested to see what strategy the players choose.”

One individual who will be looking to make a big impression on Lewis at The Chevron Championship next month is 25-year-old Allisen Corpuz. Currently ranked 35th on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, Corpuz had four top-20 finishes at the end of last season and recently finished in a tie for third at the HSBC Women’s World Championship earlier this month. The Hawaii native will be hopeful for a good performance at Carlton Woods to earn an automatic place on the U.S. Solheim Cup team.

Corpuz commented: “I am really excited to compete at Carlton Woods next month and make my debut at The Chevron Championship. I’ve heard so many great things about this championship and all the enhancements Chevron has made to take this event to the next level, so I am sure it’ll be a great first experience. I’ve been really happy with my game recently, especially with my performance at the end of last season and then recently in Singapore. It’s an important year for me with Solheim Cup coming up in September and I just want to continue this momentum I’m having and hopefully earn a place to play in my first Solheim Cup.”

Tickets for The Chevron Championship 2023 went on sale last month with a variety of ticket options available to purchase at The Chevron Championship.

Chevron U.S.A. Inc. became the new title sponsor of The Chevron Championship (formerly the ANA Inspiration) through a six-year relationship with the LPGA with their first edition as title sponsor taking place in 2022 won by Jennifer Kupcho.
