During the 2022 Hospitality on Parade Award Celebration, The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center received an Award in Excellence for Food and Beverage. Leslie Gortz King was awarded the Food and Beverage Heart of the House Award for her dedication and exceptional work as a pastry cook.
Fred Domenick, General Manager, was also nominated for General Manager of the Year (Full-Service Award Nominee) and Ling Ling Hsia, Guest Experience Expert, was a Front of the House Award Nominee.
As The Woodland Waterway Marriott's pastry cook, King efficiently produces hundreds to thousands of pastries a day. She also supports her team by helping with other responsibilities, such as plating up for a banquet or giving a helping hand on the restaurant line. King played an essential role in developing The Woodlands Waterway Marriott's new dessert menu and is known for being a positive force in the culinary department at the hotel.
"It's very exciting that three of our team members were nominated for Awards in Excellence," said Fred Domenick, General Manager at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. "We are proud of Leslie Gortz King for winning the award in her category. She has gone above and beyond in making sure our culinary department is running smoothly and efficiently, and we are grateful to have her on our staff."
The Woodlands Waterway Marriott was the only hotel in The Woodlands to receive nominations for the Hospitality on Parade Awards in Excellence. The Hospitality on Parade Award Celebration, organized by the Hotel & Lodging Association of Greater Houston and the Conrad N. Hilton college, recognizes the best of the best in the hospitality community and raises funds for future scholarships. Since the beginning of Hospitality on Parade, the event has raised over $150,000 in combined scholarship funds. The Hotel & Lodging Association is a non-profit organization that represents 300 members, including general managers, hotel owners, and individuals who sell and service the hospitality industry.
"It is an honor to have a team member from The Woodlands Waterway Marriott win an Award in Excellence," said Nick Wolda, President of Visit The Woodlands. "The people who live and work in The Woodlands truly make this a special place. These three award nominees are shining examples of how individuals in hospitality can positively impact a visitor's experience. We are lucky to have great hotels in The Woodlands that strive for excellent hospitality and customer service."
