Visit The Woodlands, the official destination management organization for The Woodlands Township, held its Annual Meeting today following a near-record year for local tourism, receiving an independent report on future tourism capacity and announcing its 2026 Board Leadership.
In 2025, The Woodlands collected more than $10.3 million in hotel occupancy tax—the second largest in its history—underscoring the strength of its visitor economy and setting the stage for a proactive review of future tourism capacity and opportunities for growth.

INTRODUCING RevPAR
The meeting featured an independent study conducted by RevPAR International, which provides an objective assessment of The Woodlands’ visitor economy and explores how it may evolve as the community grows and matures. The analysis confirms The Woodlands remains a strong, highly desirable destination with consistent year-round visitation across business, leisure, and group travel segments. It also highlights opportunities to attract additional conventions and larger meetings by expanding hotel offerings and related infrastructure in the future. Click here to view the full study.
PERFORMANCE AND IMPACT
The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau (dba: Visit The Woodlands) is responsible for promoting The Woodlands to drive demand for both hotel and retail tax collections. The Woodlands’ 14 hotels with 2,250 rooms host thousands of guests and visitors each year for business meetings, conventions, and leisure travel. According to data from Travel Texas and the Texas Research Dashboard (2024), tourism in The Woodlands generates more than $555 million in annual visitor spending, supports approximately 4,500 local jobs, provides substantial earnings for hospitality workers, and collects roughly $48.8 million in tax revenue for the community—helping to keep resident taxes lower and fund community improvements.
RevPAR CONCLUSIONS
The study shows hotel performance is strong, with occupancy averaging nearly 69.8 percent and eight months operating above 70 percent, signaling high utilization and periods of unaccommodated demand. This suggests an additional 400 hotel rooms could be added into the inventory mix in The Woodlands.
"Convention and business meeting activity in The Woodlands is strong today and building momentum,” said Linda Nelson, Chairman of the Board of Visit The Woodlands. “Our hotels and meeting venues are hosting a steady cadence of corporate groups and conferences, reflecting the destination’s appeal and the strength of our visitor economy. That demand supports local jobs and businesses while reinforcing The Woodlands’ reputation for high‑quality meetings."
About the study, Nelson said,
“This was an important opportunity for the Board to review independent data and better understand where The Woodlands stands as a destination, both today and into the future. We look forward to furthering the discussion.”
