Kids love fishing and this annual event in The Woodlands is great for toddlers all the way to 16 year-olds. Held at Creekwood Park in Panther Creek, come early at 7 a.m. to register, fishing begins at 10:30 and all entrants will get a t-shirt, bait and a hot dog lunch all free of charge. This is a great family event where you just show up with a fishing pole and everything else will be provided.

Riva Row Boathouse will be open over Labor Day Weekend! Within walking distance from Market Street and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, you can hop on one of the new swan boats that are available for rent. This is a great way to see The Woodlands Waterway! You can also rent a single or double kayak or stand-up paddle board. Life jackets and paddles are provided with all rentals. Kayaks and paddle boards are also available for rent from the Lakes Edge Boat House at Hughes Landing.

Start your Labor Day weekend off with a trip to The Woodlands Farmer’s Market at Grogan’s Mill. This weekly community event is sponsored by the Grogan’s Mill Village Association. There are 45+ different vendors that rotate stops at the Farmer’s Market (check the complete list here).
During a typical Farmer’s Market stop you can find everything from fresh produce, prepared foods and artisan goods. You can also purchase homemade pasta, wine, juices, kettle corn, seafood, sausage and many other treats. A growing tradition in The Woodlands, Labor Day at Waterway Square is the biggest celebration you’ll find over the holiday weekend. There is be live music, children’s activities, strolling entertainers and, of course, fireworks! The free event has live music performances by Blended Blues at 4 p.m. and Sawdust Road at 4:50 p.m. There’s plenty for the kids too with the The Kid Zone area that features free crafts, face painting and balloon artists as part of the festivities. Fireworks begin around at 8:55 p.m., weather permitting.
