This April, two major sporting events are coming to The Woodlands: The Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas (designated as the 2023 IRONMAN Americas Championship) and the chevron championship. These two events will bring hundreds of competitors and fans to The Woodlands, generating an increase in visitor spending and hotel bookings, and creating a huge economic impact for the community.

Over half of The Woodlands Township's budget consists of hotel tax and sales tax revenue, and big events like the chevron championship and Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas contribute to a large increase in sales taxes and hotel taxes. This increase in tax revenue strengthens The Woodlands Township's ability to keep property taxes down (and give residents a higher quality of life with well-maintained parks, pathways, and public activities in The Woodlands).
