Framed: Step into Art™

EXHIBITING THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2022

Experience the latest traveling exhibit located at The Woodlands Children's Museum which encourages children to learn about the visual arts through touch, play, and interaction! Framed: Step into Art is on loan from the Minnesota Children's Museum and will be available for viewing (and touching) through September 3, 2022.  This interactive exhibit allows children to gain an appreciation for the art world.

TICKETS

Admittance is $7 per person for adults and children ages one and up. There is no additional admittance fee for museum members. Purchase tickets online here.

Insider Tip: Guests who are members of the Association of Children's Museums Reciprocal Network will receive 50% off of general admission to The Woodlands Children's Museum.

CAMP AT LAKE O'HARA

Camp at Lake O'hara features a tent, campfire, and more! In the background of this setting, museum guests will see a print of the famous 1916 landscape Camp at Lake O'Hara by John Singer Sargent. Children can play in the camp and create their own painting of what they believe today's campsite would look like.

Framed: Step into Art - Dinner

DINNER FOR THRESHERS

Experience rural farm life at the turn of the century in the interactive space designed after Dinner for Threshers by Grant Wood. The space features a space where children can tend to a chicken and collect eggs, cook in the kitchen, and set the dinner table. The display also allows guests to mix and match the farmer's patterned shirts as they are at the dining table.

BIG CHICKEN

Learn about one of Louisiana's most famous female artists and folk-art icon, Clementine O'Hara through her piece called Big Chicken. Children can create their own imaginary animals, load the cart with cotton and climb on top of the larger-than-life giant rooster.

Framed: Step into Art - Mural

CORN FESTIVAL

Museum guests can travel to Mexico via the art piece titled Corn Festival by Diego Rivera. Children can explore the recreation of Rivera's frescos and add their own touch to create their own miniature building mural.

Framed: Step into Art - Mona Lisa

THE MANY MONAS

As museum visitors step into this exhibit they will notice all pieces have something in common, they are all celebrating the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. The "Many Monas" collection features parodies of the famous painting and even gives children the opportunity to see themselves as the Mona Lisa.

Framed: Step into Art - Create Your Own Gallery

OTHER FUN ACTIVITIES

Children can create their ideal art gallery as they decide which pieces of art to feature on their gallery walls. Other fun attractions and sensory-friendly activities in the museum include drawing a self-portrait and creating different images through a three-dimensional puzzle pattern.
